Framing and the Media Field: A Critical Discourse Analysis of News Stories on the Internet Giant Alibaba in China

Anti-monopoly has been one of China’s most crucial policy shifts in recent years, exerting a major influence on internet giants. The anti-monopoly investigation into Alibaba 2020 is an example. purpose this study to uncover the frames used news stories about event and identify factors influencing production. Critical discourse analysis conducted by analyzing extracted from two influential media China, People's Daily Caixin, perspective that considers both texts social contexts. findings reveal Caixin are considerably different genre, register, discourse, thus developing interpretations, i.e., frames, same event. determines three agents involved production employs field as framework examine their relations interactions: state’s official internalized media, while use symbolic power construct audience’s perception persons or things reality.
